Rear adapter size
I have an 85' Carrera. I'm in the process of getting adapters for the rear wheels. I'm switching from 225/45 16 fuchs 8's to 993 16" wheels with 245/45/16.
I used a 3/4"(approx) adapter to check the fit and it still puts my tire touching the headers/exhaust. It looks like the clearance on the current fuch with tires is about an 1" from headers/exhaust. Looking at getting 2" adapters. Does that seem about right? Does anyone have that 16" 993 wheels with this set-up? The offset (measuring inside of 993 wheel to mounting hub) is 6 1/2".

I ended up using 2.00 inch adapters to fit the 993 wheels (16x9) on my SC.
2.00 inch bolted to hub and then a .25 inch over that. They fit perfectly. 993 wheels fit an sc?

Thanks and Happy New Year. Saw your pic on the link, looks great. Did you use an adapter or spacer on the front? At 1" on the front i'm assuming your were still able to use the stock studs and still get enought thread.

Actually I used a bolt on adapter for the front as well. Ity was suggested by Ralph Boothe, the maker of the adapters personally. I had ordered the wrongs sizes 2x and he was nice enough to help me over the phone and get the correct ones.
I spent well over $500 for my adapters back then. I have since went back to Fuchs in 7x8. I liked the look of the Cup wheels but found I had better feel without the spacers. Probably just in my mind but I am happy.

I plan on mounting slicks on the 993 wheels, so regular driving will be with 7&8's as well. Just looking for a bit more rubber on the track. Anxious to see how everything feels. Just ordered everything so now it's the waiting game at the door for delivery...................I think in the meantime i'm going to paint the 993 wheels black/graphite like others have done. I like that look!

That's another reason I removed mine. I had planned to do more track days but things didn't work out.

I used to use adapters on my 944 with the Design 90 wheels (I had the early offset).
I figured it this way... Fronts: Stock 7" Fuchs ET is 23.3 993 7" Wheels ET is 55 (I think...you have to check). 55 - 23.3 = 31.7mm This is the amount you need to make up in order to put those wheels in the right location...which is about 1 1/4" on the front. Rear: Stock 9" Fuchs ET - 15 993 9" Wheels ET - 70 (Again check) 70 - 15= 55mm or about 2 1/8". You probably will have to go with 2" on the rear since I don't think you'll find the fraction sizes in the 2" adapters. The fronts you can get the 1 1/4". Hope this helps.
