Any special starting procedures after replacing fuel tank?

Today's project is to re-install the gas tank that I had repaired to fix a leak.

After re-installing do I need to due anything to purge the air from the lines or will the system correct itself after start up? Any need to pull DME Relay to keep engine from starting and run fuel pump to circulate the fuel?

Nothing in Bentley on this.

Thanks!

The fuel system should take care of itself. Have everything connected, fuel in the tank. Then you could do a couple of different things to sort of purge the injector rails and lines with fresh fuel. Just operate the fuel pump for a few minutes, till you know that you are getting fuel back through the fuel return line to the tank. Once that happens, it should be ready to crank and fire right up.

The other option would be to attempt getting the fuel lines and fuel rails primed by actually cranking the engine, with plenty of fuel in the tank. It could only take a minute or two to get return fuel line to start dumping the excess back to the tank. Good luck!! Tony.

I had mine out a year ago. Just filled it with gas and cranked the engine - started right up.

If it's SC you'll need to prime the system by lifting the arm inside the airbox. It's at the rear of the air box. Hold it for 5 secs, you'll hear the system build pressure. turn key should start relitively easy...

This procedure could flood the engine!!!!! If you need to prime and purge the fuel line system, simply run the FP for about 5 - 10 seconds. Lifting the air sensor plate for 5 seconds (too long) would cause unneccesary fuel in the combustion chambers.

just did the same thing on the 67 911 - and the only thing I might add in terms of 'best practice' would be to replace the fuel filter....just a good idea it seems.

After replacing all but the tunnel lines in my fuel system i ran the pump for a while (found a major leak) before starting then for about a month i checked under the car before/after every drive.
