That being said, my parents had a galvanized fence in the backyard for years and years...it has still yet to rust. It does work.

...and that's why I stay away from repainted cars. A "bare metal re-spray" is not a selling feature on a galvanized car.

They mention "not been one speck of red rust" but don't comment on the aluminum bumpers returning to the earth from whence they came.

Big difference sitting in one spot for 7 years and driving around for 7 years. No exposure to road salt/chemicals, no scratches/dings/stone chips in the paint, no dirt & debris in the wheel wells to trap water, etc. etc.

Not a cheap process to duplicate anyway. I've had other classics that tend to "fade" away with rust sooner than later (Ferrari) at best was a bit of a rust can in those days. Lotus Esprit, well atleast the body would lose it's shiny luster/clear coat early, underneath the critical "steel back bone" was also "hot dipped galvanized" and when you compared it to the surrounding components, it was in far better shape than say the some suspension bits (eeks)!
