79SC air conditioning question

Have a black 911 SC coupe with a 3.2 that I was thinking about putting AC in.
Get's pretty hot in July and August.

The car didn't come equipped with AC, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to install it... whether to buy a kit or
Get an OEM for the year or get carrera components etc....

Any insight is appreciated....

Thanks
Dan

I bought a kit for mine to replace the stock system, works better and it cost less. I added the desert duty front condenser. If you do buy a kit, get the new blower motor for the evaporator, it makes a huge difference over stock.

Check out Griffiths.com? Kuehl componentry? Our host has plenty of OE stuff to combine & build if that's the path. Definately, I've always appreciated any street Porsche with HVAC. Good luck

If the car didn't originally come equipped with AC you are looking at more than plug and play. You will have to cut some sheet metal to get air to circulate from the smugglers box, where the evaporator sits, to the cabin and back. There's a thread or two on what's involved I think by Jim Sims.

Your best approach is to obtain a used system from an SC and build upon it. Figure on spending about 30-40 hours to do the job right. PM if you need details.
