Replaced Turn Signal Stalk...Now Headlights Don't Work

I replaced my turn signal stalk today because the old one was broken and the high beams kept coming on by themselves.

Tried everything out and now the headlights don't work.

I checked everything and it seams that I am not getting voltage through the headlight switch (connection no. 56). If I bypass the headlight switch (power straight from key switch to turnsignal stalk) the headlights work.

So I guess the headlight switch needs to be replaced now. Why would that happen though? Could something have gotten damaged when I removed the headlight switch to install the turnsignal connections?

Yeah. I double checked all my connections and they are all right.

Plus when I take the power line from the key switch and connect it directly to the power line of the turn signal stalk, the lights work. So the turn signal stalk is functioning properly.

Did you ever get it sorted out? Mt hi-beams are on all the time as well. Was it a big job? Take the steering wheel off, then Momo hub adapter, anything else?

I'm waiting for my replacement headlight switch. I'm 99% sure that is the problem now.

It was a pretty easy job to do. I just followed the Bentley manual. Although they were missing a few steps.

You can take the Momo wheel and the adapter off as one piece by removing the 27mm nut. After that there are about 8 small screws that have to be removed to remove all the plastic covers. Two screws hold on the turn signal stalk. The hardest part was getting the old stalk off of the steering column. It comes out from the back. Then just remove all the old connections. The headlight switch needs to be removed too as there are connections on there. The Bentley Manual "forgets" to tell you this. Installation is just reverse of removal. And all should be well again...unless your headlight switch breaks.

I noticed today (I guess I didn't realize before because it was light out) that everything is really screwy.

In position no. 1 (off) the interior gauge lights are on.

In position no. 2 (parking lights) everything is on as if it was on position no. 3 (headlights).

And in position no. 3 (headlights) only the parking lights are on and the interior lights are off.

I'm hoping this is just the internals of the switch being screwed up.

So as an update.

I replaced the headlight switch today and everything is back to normal.

Just for fun I tested the connections on the old switch and they were all messed up. I must have really f'd the switch up when I removed it.
