There seems to be 3 ways to cure bump steer in a lowered 911. 1) raise the steering rack using spacers; about $13 for parts. 2) change the tie rod ends with some kind of kit that costs $300+ or 3) bend the tie rods themselves, as recommend in Bruce Anderson’s book, cost unknown.
I understand the geometry of the rack spacers but don’t get what the kit that changes the rod ends is. I am reluctant to bend the rods themselves as it seems unnecessary. Is there a reason I should spend 23 times as much money to change the rod ends as to just raise the rack? Any experiences and suggestions appreciated. Regards -Andy ‘84 Cab. |

For most people the rack spacers are fine, Try them first, if you still have a problem then try more expensive solutions. BTW another option is the raised spindle RSR strut.
