Which Center Cap do I need?
I recently had Jim at Trudesign refinish 2 separate sets of Fuchs that I had purchased from two separate people. I think both sets were from 74-89 year but I don't know the specific years.
I am looking to buy the center caps to finish off the wheels and want to buy some that have a high polish or chrome look with either the black or painted crest centers. My newly finished wheels are what I think Jim reffered to as Bright Stars. When I go on ebay I see a lot of variety in the types of centers, but from what I have seen it looks like only one style will fit. Can someone give me some direction on what I should be looking for? Is there a specific size back that I need to fit my fuchs? Does it change year to year? etc. Thanks,

Yes, there are two separate size caps because the diameter of the hole changed--early are smaller diameter and use three prongs, later are a bit larger and are "ring style". I'm not certain on the exact year of the change but if you can get the date of the wheels narrowed down, someone can tell you with certainty. Post 75 wheels, I believe, all have the larger openings. It's the 74 year that you may have that I'm not too sure of.

Do the later style also have the holes in the caps for pulling them out?

Yes, I believe so although there are later center caps without the holes. If you can get the part #'s off the wheels, including the stamped digits at the end or the manufacture date, that will confirm. Late style have a 70mm opening, so measurement will confirm.

Later (ring) style caps came in both styles (with holes and without). Don't know if there are separate part numbers.
With Fuchs wheels, those are the only center caps that will fit. The majority of center caps on ebay are for the newer (non-Fuchs) wheels, though there are some out there. FYI, I've got black caps for Fuchs with hand painted centers, but no polished or chrome caps (harder to come by).

Is there anyone out there that does a good job of refinishing these. I have a pair off my 15 inch Fuch's i guess I could get refurbed.. if so what is the typical cost of this type of service?
