Hey Fellas,
Just got off the phone with Progressive and they advised that they obtain "ACTUAL CASH VALUE" from Kelly Blue Book Classic Valuation or NADA Guide. Here is what Nada Guide states current value of my baby is: Fair = $16,600 to Excellent = $24,800. Here is a link if you want to know: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5005-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5006&c=7&z=90802&m=1144&da=-1 Well with all the money I put into her I am glad I am not upside down yet

whoa - my 87 comes in at $29.4K for Low Retail. I must've pushed the wrong buttons or something. It's a lot higher than I believe, but at least it isn't lower than I paid.
It bugs me that I researched for a year and I had become very familiar with prices and values, and now that I've owned one for almost a year and I haven't paid any attention, I seem to have forgotten everything!! This makes me feel a lot better for a couple of reasons - I put some sweat equity into her during the winter, and, her value has outlasted the value of the GE stock I almost ( and should have) used to buy her with.

Get an independent appraisal. NADA, Kelly and the other generic valuation services would have to improve to suck. If you value your car, pay for the appraisal and pay the extra few bucks to have a stated value.

Oh...my brother in law in LA County handles my rides and home owners. If you want a competitive quote, call 661-942-1101 and ask for Hank H. He does stated value and has more than a few companies to choose from.
He actually a nice guy too....

I figured it was too good to be true. The 18.4K is much more believable, but not too shabby either considering what I paid. (still cool to me)

$16.6 to $24.8 not bad for a car I paid $12.5 for and have maybe another $500 or so into.

I looked at the value of my '84 Cab. Wow! I wish I could get high retail for mine (though I would never really sell). I hope I never have to use this to get something from my insurance company.

Tell me about it. I have about $80,000 in my '83 SC--no, I don't regret a bit of it--but it's still a 1983 911SC, worth about...oh, I haven't the faintest idea and don't care. $1.95? $500? $15,000?

umm... $22k to $29k for a cab. Mine has steel wide body so it should be $25k to $35k? I am a generous guy so I'll take the lowest number, $25k, anyone? I will be getting a minivan
. Picture a minivan with bunch of kids going for grocery shopping

You have to wonder where these NADA values come from. NADA stands for National Automobile Dealers Association. Sooooo what dealer is selling a '78 911SC? The NADA guides are derived from what cars are going for at auction and what they are selling for at dealers. So again, what dealer is selling 911s from decades ago, to report the selling price?
I have an agreed value policy with Hagerty, of $15,000 for my 911. My bank says the value is $22,500. I know for a fact I couldn't get $22K for my car, but I like the fact that I have alot of equity in my car, if should I need to use it. Some people get home equity loans, I could get a "car equity loan", if need be. My car sold new in Nov '82, for about $34,000. Here it is May '09 and the car is still worth a little over 66% of it's original price.

I bought my nice unmolested '87 Targa a year ago for $15,500. It had 87K miles and a recent clutch job. With the economy the way it is I wouldn't be surprised if you could do better today.
