UKUD (Unknown Knob Under Dash)

Can anyone identify this knob under the dash of my '78 930?

It doesn't seem to do anything and I can't view the top side of it to see what it might be attached to. My next course of action is to remove it.

You know, I have one too. Left of the steering wheel though. Also connected to nothing.

Maybe its the ATR button. Use extreme caution!

It is the passenger Ejection seat button.
Mostly used in the cases where the passenger doesent appreciate a Porsche!

Adjustable boost? Maybe the hoses from the wastegate control line and wastegate vent are not there in which case, the knob would do nothing if it is adjustable boost.

I was thinking mine is for the warp drive, but disconnected for safety.

Yeah, I thought it was the flux too. But then I realized that on my car, the flux works automatically off of the WUR. As for that Romulan Cloaking device, I think it would be a good project. I guess I could wire it all up to that under dash switch for a completely stock appearance. Yeah, I might do that once I finish installing these nifty NOS Incom T-65 deflector shields I found for a good price.

Can't really tell for sure but you may be able to view the rest of the switch from the trunk area behind the blower motor cover.

Is this a rotary or pull switch?

I am not able to see the other side of the switch in the trunk area

The knob is a rotary/threaded unit. 99% sure it is not a boost knob.

I have a pull switch under the dash on my 78 that is a poor man's anti-thieft device. The switch disables the fuel pump in the run mode. The car will start then die when you stop cranking. The circuit was posted in Up-fixin' and I would guess pano back in the day.
