my brother did an Earls replacement for the routine 3.2 leaky engine fuel line. He paid $250 in the LA area for it.

Excellent! I wanted to do the same with stainless tubing and fittings...the 3000 PSI stuff we use on the pipeline...an over kill for sure, but I like to play

What kind of crimp fittings and hose did he use from Earl's?

I assume those end fittings are reused from the old line. Those metric inverted female fittings are not all that common 'round here.

Looks great. Agreed with John Walker- feeding that line under the intake is a royal PITA. Especially with the engine still in the car and not partially dropped!

That looks great! I replaced my original with an assembly from a local P-car shop using my original fittings and it only lasted about a year and started to weep at the fuel rail fitting.
Can you provide more information on how he put it together?

I just called by brother in LA..

he said that Tom at Earls in Hawthorn/Haworthne/whatever did the assembly. Google will have the phone number.
Tom will remember the fuel line for the '88 red Carrera.. supposedily it was a PIA to get the crimp parts.. and he was amazed at my brother's stock paint job.

The fittings are from an old line that my brother got from his wrench.

He'll take another pic if you want..

Thanks. I kinda figured the old fittings were reused. Nothing wrong with that. Looks like Tom brazed a special crimp fitting on there to mate with the original Porsche fitting.

Also figured the crimps were made with the specialized crimping rig and not some sort of homestyle assembly. Guess that's where the added cost comes in. Gotta pay a bit for more peace of mind.

Nice looking finished product for sure. And as John Walker said, that flex line is a going to be a heck of a lot easier to install (with the intake installed) than the original flex/steel combo line.

Definitely put this on your list of "to do" items. If your line is the original one? It can fail at a moment's notice, without warning. I've seen and heard of a number of failures over the past few years.

When my line started leaking I went to a local shop that makes hydraulic lines. I used the original ends. I marked where I wanted them cut off and told them how long I wanted each leg. They included the "t" fitting in the center and only charged me about 60 dollars. It looks almost exactly like the picture in RoninLB's post.

Yep. But, Ron's brother lives in the high rent district. I can get these made in Signal Hill Ca for a lot less than 250. But 60 is a smokin' deal!
