black and blue and red RSA interior pixs

A few weeks of sore knees and the interior is finally done. Sound dampening is 4 coats of quiet car and a layer of Thermotech FR. Carpet and door panels are Appbiz. Both fit very well. A big thanks to Bob at Appbiz. Along with great products, Bob sent me some vinyl at no charge and I was able to recover the lower b-pillar trim and also fab some rear seat belt reel covers.
The while I was there projects: New window felt, blade seals and new shifter bushings. Next up are new door seals.
Here are some pixs just because.
oh, floor mats are new from Loyd's.

Don you are an inspiration... looks awesome.

By the way the seat rails you gave me worked perfectly. My RSA seat now has the seat belt receiver on the correct side thanks to you.

I'll hook up with you soon to get you these other rails.

Thanks everyone.
Kie, Glad the rails worked.
JonT. The seats are regular pole positions. The shells don't weigh much. A few lbs I think. I can weigh the other one tonight. The rails and side brackets weigh quite a bit though. My other brackets are AL but the rails are still beefy. Still a lot lighter than the factory seats.

Sound dampening worked pretty good. Not as quiet as before but 49lb came out of the back end. The engine noise isn't bad at all., it's the G50 tranny that is annoying.

Don,

Sorry for the hijack, but how well does that Quiet Car stuff work? I had throught about stripping Stinky's interior to the metal, put on a coat or POR15 for protection, then dynamatting it to help reduce engine noise and such. If that Quiet Car stuff is any good, I might have to try that instead.

Any idea about how much weight four coats added? Why four coats?

Thanks! The car looks great! I hope my interior looks that good someday!

Don,

Can you talk to me about how your mounted your seat so low. I have a pole position and im looking into ways to make it lower.

Looks great -

I just picked up my RSA panels from Bob that worked out great. I couldn't bring my self to put holes in the panels to mount it so I used the clips along the bottom of the door - looks very clean.

Just requires a few mods to the bottom of the door and you can save a little more weight in the process by getting rid of those ridiculous mounting blocks that are tack welded into the door.

Sometimes I wonder if Porsche was really concerned about weight or just getting something accomplished.

The door panel caps could be lightened also with plastic and covered in vinyl - those thing are heavy.

Thanks for the compliments!

For the quiet car question... Quiet car worked pretty well. It's noiser but fine for me. Engine noise is great, it's the tranny noise that I can't reduce.
I put 4 coats in the back end only. 4 coats to get decent thickness. They recommended multiple thin coats. I used roughly 60% of the gallon. The dried weight of a gallon is 8lbs so I figure I put in around 6lbs of paint on. The Thermotech FR weighed a couple lbs at most. I estimate with carpet, etc. I put less than 15lbs back in. 49lbs came out so that's a decent net.
The Quietcar company was a pain to work with tho. They couldn't figure out if they actually shipped the product. I tried to cancel my order. When I came home that same day, the paint just showed up. If I had to do it again, I'd use Silent Running. SR500. It sounds like a similar product, same price, same dried weight, etc..
http://www.silentrunning.us/html/sr_500.html

For the PP seat height. I didn't do anything special. The seat is mounted on a Brey Krause side mounts sitting on aftermarket sliders. The BK side mounts may be for sale if you're interested in them.

Don, thanks for the info. I'll check out the Silent Running stuff. I want a nice car to drive, and I know I'll never be able to make it silent, but a little quieter would be nice.

Thanks Noah,
I have 40%ish of quiet car left if anyone wants it. I won't use it and it's only good for a year.

The problem is that one cannot determine how the Silent Running stuff works from their web site (http://www.silentrunning.us/html/how_it_works.html) - is amazingly uniformative. It may be a microbead encapsulated product like Quiet Coat or it may not. It apparently is not just a big clog of asphalt....

BTW - How many coats of the Quiet Coat did you apply. I think he told me 3 coats when I contacted them...

Sad they don't have their retail act together... kinda reminds of Nakamichi back when they were Nakamichi Research...
