Post intermitant high idle

Any ideas on this one?

my 1987 normally idles at 900 quite happily, however it has now started to stick at 2000 rpms. if you lift the gas pedal it does drop back to 900. At first i though simply stuck linkages but ive checked out everything ( pedal feels exactly the same and in same possition when idle is 900).

should i re investigate the pedal again? or does any one have any ideas / similar probs.

i will also prey to the porsche gods and hopefully it will cure itself by morning!

seriously any help greatly appreciated.
