1971 Porsche carrera

Hello all I am new here and would like to say there is a lot of info here.

Here is my question, i just picked up a 1971 porsche carrera 2.2 L from an estate sale in southern california for very very cheap and would like to know the value of this classic german engineering piece of art? The car also came with an 3.0 liter spare engine. All the # match.

Thanks in advance

RC

Excellent '71's go for about $3,000-4,000 or so.

hmm 71 carrera?

i think you have a 911T,E,S, not sure if they made some rare carrera ive not heard of.

and these cars go for alot more than 3-4k if not a rusty hulk.

It was a joke reply, in response to the lack of info posted with the question.

1971 Porsche:
the car is not numbers matching- no way with a 3 liter engine

the car is not a carrera. the first year of the production carrera was 1973 and it was equipped with a 2.7 liter mechanically injected engine

without LOTS of detailed pictures, no one here could give you a fair estimate of value. And even then it would be very subjective due to not being able to drive it to guage its performance and feel

good luck

That's a turbo body kit, FWIW it looks nicely done in the pics.

the engine is some variety of CIS injected 6, w/ early heat.
Try to get a serial #, it should be on the vertical part of the block to the lower right of the cooling fan.

You could probably part it out for somewhere around 8 or 9K ...

As for early long hood value I believe it has been destroyed with that one...

Or drive it and enjoy it ... looks reasonably well done...

it does look to be a 2.7 liter of some sort but there is no way its numbers matching even with are you sure on the 71 year, its either a up dated 71 or a 74 up car.

without a vin its hard to say. the blacked out targa bar and window trim throws me towards a carrera of 74-75, maybe someone turbo bodied a carrera and thats why they told you carrera.

im interested to here what this turns out to be.

the relay box looks like 75-76 or so.

need more interior pics and a shot from under the rear so you can see the bottom of the engine.

Car is definitely an early chassis as the dash face, guages, column and switches are all early, so most likely 71 as represented. Vin check to make sure

Nice looking car that someone spent some $$ on with the update. Mirrors are aftermarket and subjective regarding looks.

Motor is a 2.7 CIS . Would like to see the engine number and type to make sure it is an S. Green shroud means it is the 165 hp version.

Being a targa and updated early chassis means careful inspection for rust, condition and type of suspension/ brakes, transmission type (70/71 reverse pull 911 or 915 update? What is the shift pattern? 1st to bottom left and back or straight up ? )

Value? soooo dependent on condition and total menu of bits that make up the car

911e?

I wonder if it started life as a 2.2 liter 911E (based on the 6900 RPM Tachometer). I understood that the 3.0 liter engine was a spare and the 2.2 was still installed. Maybe I misread it.
