Where does the hand throttle cable exit the tunnel?

You don't have a separate cable for the hand throttle, the lever near the handbrake operates a "shoe" that fits over the throttle rod and pushes against an adjustable stop that slides on the rod that passes through the tunnel.

So where does the rod exit the tranny and how does that connect to the throttle?

get under there - after it is on stands, not just a jack - and look at the driver's side of the tranny -- you will see he assembly -- the thing that looks like a coathanger with a loop in it is the throttle rod from trans. to motor; on the other side of the articulated, ah, gizmo is the part that the nylon hand throttle piece hooks on to further forward.
