Accelerator blocks

What's the best way to raise the accelerator to ease heal/toe?

To try it out, I put a 1/2 inch thick chunk of wood on mine using duct tape. Definitely makes it easier, since my right foot only has one ankle.

I suspect the duct tape won't last all that long so I'm looking for a better solution. I sure don't want that slopping around at the wrong time.

I am considering drilling a couple holes through the wood and pedal and dropping in a couple of screws. What have others done?

Isn't there a threaded rod behind the accel pedal to allow for adjustment?

Yes, but the rod has a limited amount of adjust. And it only moves out the top, the base of the accelerator remains fixed.

I'm surprised no-one has made an aftermarket pedal with the hinge behind the pedal & slotted mounts to the floor.
With the adjustable rod length you should then be able to arrange the pedal to suit just about anyone.

Chuck,

I would get the heal/toe petal and then use longer screws, and cut some pieces of copper tubing as spacers to raise the petal to the level I want to use it at.

That would be what I would do. should hold up just fine, and would give you the addition of the heal pad as well...

Just my two cents...

I think zip ties would work just fine & leave the pedal unmolested.

I have an attachment which make heel toe much easier.
It is called the '3rd foot' and I think it was made by wings engineering (they advetise in Excellence)
I will attempt to post it now..... here goes

That seemed to work. You canadjust the 3rd foot to be the same height exactly as your brake pedal as depressed under hard braking!.
Rather than hel toe I have found that a technique of braking with your big toe and ball of foot and roll your small toes over to blip the throttle is easier.
Hope this helps, cost around $100 or so!
