Imagine the dollar value in that room alone... Can't help but me impressed.

I do like the green car? Any idea of the name of that colour?

Sorry Wayne but this is the first thing that came to mind when you mentioned playing with models on your desk:

After my initial reaction on the historical significance and the beauty of that scene, I had several thoughts:

- Please start them all up and record the sound for posterity.

- Who is the insurance carrier for that garage? Because what if.....

- How nerve-racking it would be to park that many incredibly valuable vehicles that close together, knowing that even the smallest scratch....

- Ok, so they are all out on the track together, and the "exibition" racing gets a little intense, and...
(remembering a lot of bent GT40's in an exhibition/vintage race a few years back).

Wayne - Thanks for the photo.

I just want to grab a sleeping bag, curl up by the Martini on that open piece of floor, fall asleep and just dream.

Great photo, Wayne!

The difference between my looking at a photo of those icons and driving them is money. They say money does not bring happiness. Not sure about that.

I can't believe how many of these great cars are left and the condition they are in...
I wonder if you could ever see so many Ferraris of similar vintage in one place.

Says a lot for the Porsche passion bug.

Beautiful photograph. The green Ferrari is David Piper's and the color is commonly known as "Piper Green". There's an article in the current issue of Motorsport about Piper and his contribution to racing over the years.

Again, nice photo.

Jeff, you were just confuzed with Piper's other race car: His 250 LM that he vintage races quite successfully
But i could see how you might have lost your senses temporarily

Interesting timing, just started reading the book 24:16 last night that my daughter and son-in-law got me for Christmas.

Awesome picture Wayne!

Wayne,

I was in that garage too, virtually alone with 20 (or was it 22?) 917s...all unguarded. For me it was Friday night after the driver ceremony as we were leaving the track. We stopped in the garage & I think there was 1 other person in there (maybe it was you!). I took several pics too.

Aside from the value of all of those cars, I was struck by the history. I thought of all of the hard-fought battles the cars had been in & of all the legendary drivers who piloted them...many of whom were at the driver ceremony!

I will try to post some of my pics when I get home tonight. One of my favorites happens to be owned by a fellow NE Ohio resident (& former Porsche dealer), Chuck Stoddard. It is all white, with no sponsor logos, just as he bought it from Porsche. I talked with him about it & he said he bought it slightly used for some ridiculously low price (I forget how much). I love how pure it looks in white.

And then we stopped in the next garage that was completely packed with 956/962 racers!

A great, overwhelming experience!
