2.2 vs 2.4 installation
I'm buying a 2.2 engine this week to replace my 2.4 while I rebuild it (probably next winter). The 2.4 is tired and is having some major problems (though still running adequately) but I haven't got even close to enough time to rebuild it right now, and I really want to do it myself.
Anyway, I'll be picking up the 2.2 on Friday and installing it some time in the next month or so (car's off the road for winter anyway, so I'm not in a big rush). My question is, should this be a straightforward swap? Or are there slight differences that I'm going to need to account for? For example, I'm assuming things like motor mounts will be in exactly the same position, tranny-mating will be exactly the same, etc. But what about things like oil hoses - exactly the same diameter? Anything I need to be aware of, parts or adaptors I need to order, before I swap them out? Thanks! Chris

I think the 2.2s had a smaller oil line connection at the oil pump, but you can swap out the one from your 2.4. Wiring may need a little work depending on induction, but I think all the wiring harnesses are set up for MFI or carbs. Fuel hoses and pump depending on induction. Flywheel/pp/clutch are different for the 901 vrs 915. That's all I can really think of.
