964 cams
Yes I have had a quick search but not found what I'm looking for.
I'm thinking of putting 964 cams in my 3.2 , I can get second hand one's in good con, but some where on here there was a discussion one cam timing issues. is it difficult to get right ? Thanks Steve. |

G'Day Steve, Don't know if this will be of any help but during my rebuild last spring the mechanic suggested doing a 964 cam grind on my 3.2 cams. He sent them out to California somwhere. Car runs great. Don't know of any timing issues he had. Good luck.

964 cams will be timed like all earlier cams, should be no issue
993cams on the other hand are a RPITA.

You just need to have the right tools, ie cam nut crowfoot wrench, Z-block and gauge. You can find the timing values on this board, 1.26 mm if I recall correctly. Then, there are numerous threads describing the general procedure. Chain tension during the timing is important, and the valve lash must be set beforehand.
