Outside mirror question

Toggle switch did not work... Removed the L side glass, found the wires cut (thanks body shop!). Re-attached them, I think they were 6, two brown, a blue, a white, a black/green and black purple. I have the old style connector. I am getting no power in any of the wires, ignition is on. The car has an "add-on" R side mirror, but it is not wired. There is also no selector switch under the tach. Shouldn't be power goint to at least one of the wires? I was thinking one of the brown ones since the other brown is for the heating element. Does anyone have a spare toggle switch I try, or is something else wrong? I am getting light inside the cabin, is there another fuse somewhere else?
Thx.
SZ
