Can I build a carbed engine from a 3.3 ? - Opinions Needed

Ok - I've just had what I think may be a good idea , but would value opinions from those who may have some experience of this.
I have just replaced the 3.3 Turbo engine in my RSR Replica , with a fully rebuilt unit , which I obtained at an excellent price from an abandoned project ....

The engine in the car had no problems , other than a tendency to smoke a fair bit , and was coming up to needing a top end rebuild. I bought the complete rebuilt engine for less the cost of doing the top end - so really it was a no -brainer

Anyway - to get to the point , I am also building an ST themed hotrod , based on a '67 S .............

I am currently thinking about engines for this car now , - I don't nessecarily want to be 100% correct with the car , just something with the right look , and obviously , as much 'go ' as possible , within a sensible budget.
I now obviously find myself with a 'spare' 3.3 engine , with a known to me history , and what I believe to be a good bottom end.
My question therefore , is - can I use the bottom end and heads - if need be replacing pistons and cylinders , to make an 'interesting ' engine that will perform well on carbs? - I assume the key is to increase the compression ratio - but what about cams ? - and is there anything else that I am missing ?
All input will be gratefully received.

You are correct. The bottom end is exactly the same as the 3.2 with a better oil pump. The heads are the same as the 3.2 as well (I think, I need to look that up though).

Replace the cylinders with 3.2's and the cams with something fun and go. Get your cams reground by DC cams.

I actually have a set of 3.2 pistons and cylinders too if you are interested.

Thanks

Ed
