Forums Search Engine Updated...

You can now search for two and three characters words like MFI and CIS and Carrera RS.

Enjoy!

MotoSook 03-04-2009 06:51 AM

this sucks...it'll be more convenient to search the forum...and no one will post anymore "how to" questions before they search.... ;) I guess we'll just post more pictures! LOL!

Shadetree930 03-04-2009 08:31 AM

And 32C

ossiblue 03-04-2009 08:33 AM

Thanks Wayne. Now we can see how many threads contain WTF:D

Are there substitutes for characters like ampersands and periods? Terms like B&B and 3.2 still don't work for me.

I sometimes use the google method (type in "B&B site:forums.pelicanparts.com") but you can't specify sub-forums this way.

This, and any other search tips and tricks would be much appreciated. The only search modifiers I know are +'s and quotation marks.

Thanks,

gtc - are you asking about wildcards?

gtc 03-04-2009 02:40 PM

Possibly. I'm not too familiar with all the web jargon, so I don't know what 'wildcards' are.

Zeke 03-04-2009 03:46 PM

Yaaaayyyy! H4 now comes up!

burgermeister 03-04-2009 04:20 PM

- typical wildcards are the character ! or *

these have been used for several decades, long before the internet and way way before the .

try appending those and see if the search results change from not using them -- if not, then answer = No; if so then likely = Yes.

it is much harder to program for their usage in a database system...
