MFI fuel filter

Hi, I fired the 911 up today, smelled gas, shut it down. Opened the lid, the whole left side fuel soaked. Today I bought a lottery ticket, it should have burned. It leaked from the filter seal. The thing wasn't even hand tight, a full turn loose. It had been sitting about a week, too cold, was fine when I parked it inside. No smell. Anybody seen this problem before? Tightening the filter stopped the leak. I going to take it off to look but I can't help thinking it's alcohol related.

Nice looking E Motor

That's clean looking engine room, show us more!

I have never had that gasket leak, but had a similar adventure starring one of those crappy purolator fuel regulators on a car with dual webers - while underway!! Mine should have burned that day as well, but did not.

If you have any of the cloth braided fuel line, it can die of old age as well.

I just replaced my MFI fuel filter. It was on tight! It may have been the original, benefiting from 38 years of time and weathering for the metal surfaces to get to know each other.

I got it off with a big 19mm (I think) combination wrech. I tightened it as best I could using the hex shaped boss for the fuel line fitting on the bottom.

Clean looking engine!
