Main Fues Block Replacement Time.

OK - It is time to take the plunge and replace the main fuseblock on my old 79 930. Can anyone suggest a practical block? There are a ton of them on the internet but I thought I would ask youse guys what have done it.

Our 8 position fuse block contains 8 individual fused curcuits with connections that enter and exit from the bottom. Excellent fuse block to mount to a bulkhead or panel with the fuses sticking out the front and the wires hidden behind. Connections are using 1/4" female push-on connectors. Reinforced mounting holes located 4.055" center to center. Mounting hole diameter is 7/32". Includes a clear gasketed cover.

clicky

My take goes something like this:

Quote:

When I broke mine, I first thought of building my own. I checked with Pelican and at the time, they did not have the part I need so I called Parts Heaven (800-767-7250). For less than $20.00 I had a nearly perfect OEM unit (used) in my hands. While still uses the bullet style fuses, it has the correct number of places and the correct jumpers on the back.

And while some may disagree, my OEM Fuse holders have given my car 35 years of good service. Why should I change?

Be sure you provide future owners (and yourself) a DETAILED diagram of what you did. Trust me, in 3-4 years you will not remember exactly what you did when you are chasing an electrical gremlin. Be sure your color coding also matches the factory colors to ease troubleshooting in the future.

Since you will have deviated from the Factory setup, you should be aware that most pros will not be willing to touch the electrical systems in your car.

Hey Harry my car is such a mutt now that most Pros wont touch the whole car, and I am finding that the "Pros" are highly overpaid and way highly overrated in some cases not all.

Thanks to all for the input.

Hi Buddy:

No worries on my part. I hear you 5 x 5.

As far as I am concerned, everyone has do what they think is right. Your money, your car, your choice.

I just wanted folks to be aware of a potential downside to changing the factory setup. For many here, the change in no biggie but for others it may be a short term solution that leads to a long term problem.
