K&N Triple Throat Carburetor Watershield Air Cleaner Kit

I plan to buy a set of these K&N Triple Throat Carburetor Watershield Air Cleaner Kit

If I install these, where does the hose from the oil tank go, which is now connested to the air filter housing. This is for '71 911T with webers.

Any pictures?

Thanks for any input!
Engelbert

I have the breather from the oil tank going into a catch bottle. I do not want oil ingested by my Webers.

Super !

So just come up with a connector to the large hose and connect the 2 lines from the holes in the rain shield.

However, I also like the idea with a catch bottle. That could be something from PVC, and then lead the hose from the oil tank in there and then connect one small hoese and insert a T and run it to the holes in the filter covers. This way any possible oil would be in the bottle, and if there are some gases it would be sucked in to the carbs.

I see a gauge back there, for the fuel pressure, excellent idea ! what range is it ?

Thanks for the help and the pictures, this will help.

The catch can is an important component in the oil path, otherwise excess oil from the tank or blowby may force oil into the intake.

That looks like the PMO fuel block/fuel pressure regulator and gauge; about 5-6 psi max. The bracket makes it easy to mount onto the bulkhead. They also make one w/o the pressure regulator.

Is there a part number for this catch can? Anyone have any pictures? Because I did get a nice spurt of oil on the carbs the other day.

Yep, as Sherwood says, that is a PMO 'pressure control unit' as they call it. The range goes all the way up to 15psi actually and you need a fuel circuit with a return line to be able to use it properly. Here's a close-up:

I ran the hose forward, attached a paper filter element (purchased at O'Reillys) and let it vent to the atmosphere. It just lays near the shock tower, right side.

Been running that for a year ...no problems. The filter is as white/clean as the day I installed it. I'm only guessing, but if you have oil pressure from your oil fill tube, puking oil out that hose, you have other (vent) or overfill(?) problems.

Sorry to bring up old topic, but I'm installing mine, and have a question. Should I install back those three throats, or should I go without them? Which is better for performance?

I assume you mean these

Yes, you need to put them back after the bottom plate from the air filter is on.

Cheers

Kristijonas, Ron was just being snarky. What he was saying was, "Yes, absolutely."

Your sig included this info:
'65 Porsche 912 #994

I'm trying to make the relationship between "those three throats" and a 912 engine. Please advise and be more descriptive of those throats.

Thanks,
Sherwood
