Starting up the rebuild tomorrow--Advise?
Tomorrow I should get the last few things bolted onto my 83 SC and I should be able to test start the rebuilt motor .
Planning on 1) unplugging the CDI input to stop ignition, unplug the fuel pump relay and crank the motor over until I get some oil pressure, 2) check for leaks and fix if needed 3)plug fuel pump relay back in , crack the union to #1 injector, lift the flow plate arm to get some fuel flow and purge the fuel system of all the air I've introduced until i get some fuel at #1 3) plug in the CDI and see if she'll fire up Of course before I do any of this I'll double and triple check all the fittings and bolts. Any other first time on a new motor hints? Thanks

Hope not, Doug

Do you need to worry about the charge of the battery with all the cranking going on without starting?

Congrats in advance! Have a bottle of champagne or your favorite beverage on hand. You will be happy you did it yourself. I rebuilt my engine a few years ago over a cold winter. Almost 15,000 miles later, many of them at the track, it is still running like it did 20 minutes after rebuild
