911 identification help?

Hello all, Need a bit of help. I have run into a 1975 911 that I am interested in buying but need some help identifying the original specs of the car. The Car appears to be a Carrera. It is advertised and labeled as such, and owner claims it is an original Carrera. It has the wider (original as far as I can tell) fenders, spoiler, whale tail, etc. The car has a bit of work and upgrades done to it like the large oil cooler, 16x7/8 wheels, Weber carbs, headers, and a few others. But here's my issue, the vin number starts with 911520xxxx, which according to my research is for a US 911S Coupe. My question is on the authenticity of the Carrera labeling. Was there such a thing as a Carrera option for the 911S? and it it possible to have an actual real 1975 Carrera with a vin number that identifies it as an S? or can I assume this is a 911 S that someone at some point converted to a Carrera? I'm not too familiar with the older 911s so any help of info would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention this is a US vehicle. Cheers, Jose M.V.

You are correct on your numbers and assumptions. The Carrera is a seperate model with #'s 9115400001-9115400395 US coupes, 9115410001-9115410174 US Targa. ROW(rest of world) Carrera 9115600001-9115600518 coupe, 9115610001-9115610197 Targa. The US Carrera and the 911S have the same motor the ROW Carrera motors are much different .

Thanks for the info. That`s what I though, and although disappointed it's not a Carrera it should give me some negotiation leverage. How much different are the ROW Carrera engines from the US versions? Cheers, Jose
