Looks like the wheel to the spacesaver spares on the later cars. Usually painted red.

Is it an aluminum wheel ? If so, there were simular wheels in the mid 60's named Mac Affee or some variation on that spelling. As I recall they came out of So Cal, possibly LA area.
Hope this helps, Woody |

PSportoVeloce is correct, it is a period aftermarket wheel. I don't remember who made them or what they are called but I had a set on a '72 911 several years ago...

My fullsize '72 spare looks exactly like that, i assume it's an aftermarket rim; unless by some miraculous coincidence it's the spare that would come in a stock '72 car with 4 gas burners.
Anyone? Does a car that shipped with gas burners come with 5, or 4 and - something - maybe this - as a spare? Gas burners are 15 x 5.5 . . . . . . . . okay I'm reaching here.

Looks like a Hands wheel. They were pretty popular for imports and Corvairs in the '60. That's the second half of the last century for you young'ns.

The wheels were made here in So Cal. They were made in 13's. 14's, and 15's. Jack McAfee had a porsche dealership in burbank as well as a small separate accessories company. The wheels became known as mcafee's as a LOT of them were installed on their 912's, 911's, and 914's (well a LOT was relative term with the 914, as the Riviera mags were super popular on the lil boxes)
You would also see them on Corvairs and Sunbeam Tigers. An interesting option , but these wheels are pretty heavy and don't bring much money when you find them

I have a set of those that came and are still on my 1968 911 normal soft window.
A few years back I believe I remember reading where you need the special lug nuts in order to use these. Does anyone know for sure?
