Welcome to Pelican, friend. You should post pics of your car when you get a chance. We like pics...ALOT.

to your question:

The 911 has adjusters located on the end of the torsion bars for setting ride height in the front. You turn them clockwise for up and CCW for down. Here are some threads about the topic as I would suggest you read about changes that will occur to your suspension settings when you start adjusting ride height.

newbie question on ride height

So I tried to lower my 1983 911...

Be careful how low you go as it changes the steering geometry, and be aware of what profile tyres you are sticking with. I lowered my car and later went with lower profile tyres... too low!

Another tip: Start by learning the use of the search button above. This is one of the most posted subjects on this board, and I believe you'll find a writeup in the Tech Article section.

Here's the little screw.

As others have mentioned, it's more complex than just slamming it to the ground. That said, you can pretty much align the front with string and a carpenter's level. And that said, if you drop it to the bumper stops, and put a dead accurate alignment on it, it'll look great, but not work on the street. All the moving part still have to have room to oscillate.
