Will This Alternative BMW Reference Sender/Sensor Work?

While I have my engine out for a transmission rebuild I noticed the outer covering of the speed sensor wire has several cracks and a few small chunks missing. The resistance between pin 1 and 2 tests fine and the engine started and ran fine when I removed it in the fall.

However, "while I'm in there " it probably makes sense to replace the sensor with the cracked outer wire since its very easy compared to doing it with the engine back in.

My dilemma is whether to replace the sensor with the Porsche part# @ $142.00 or the BMW part # 12-14-1-708-619-M14 that is purported to work @ $71.00 through our host and even less elsewhere? I found the BMW part# referenced several time while doing a search of the Pelican archives as well as on the INTERNET.

Is there anyone reading this that has first hand knowledge that BMW part number 12-14-1-708-619-M14 is a perfect plug in and works fine?

Thanks
