Which wheel finish?

I am very close to calling Jeff to place an order for a set of wheels and would like some input as to what you think might look good on my car. Or rather, the MOST good (more gooder?), as they all would likely look awesome.

I thought I had made up my mind for polished petals and rim, but possibly they'd look too blingy? I am also toying with RSR frosted finish or clear anodized instead of polished. I am not sold on the black powder coat for my car, as I like a bit more contrast between body and wheel colour. My current 15s are painted body colour (Marine blue).

Or maybe I should just quit over analysing it and just pick one, already.

Last year I started polishing, got done with one wheel, and decided it was WAY too blingy for my tastes.

I sent the wheel out to have it re-anodized.

With your car color - which looks great - I'd stick with the body color or RSR-type finish.

Just my 2 cents

I am a little biased I guess....but since I also own an 87 Marine Blue Coupe I thought I would throw in my .02.....I think the polished pedals look great on cars with polished or anodized window trim and chrome trim rings and door handles...however on cars like ours with the black trim I tend to prefer polished rims with semi gloss centers (instead of satin) or RSR....If I had the money for a set of new wheels and tires I would have a set of Jeff's wheels in RSR finish. I have included a couple pictures of mine to give you an idea of what yours would look like more or less if you decide to go with just polished rims. I have the silver stripe somebody mentioned earlier as well.

Speed Yellow. It'll stand out.

j/k I have a darker, drab-colored car, as well. I wanted something brighter than standard black, but not as blingy as polished. So I went with RSR finish. No pics to post, yet.

I went with a twist on the RSR petal look. I did them myself to save money.

I put together a guide to how I did it. Here: Polished RSR Petal Look

Wow! Six and a bit out of eight responses voted RSR. That seems quite overwhelming, though I am still not totally convinced. Perhaps you will bear with me a little more...

The RSR seems to have a purposeful, industrial look. I find it rather pretty in a minimalistic sort of way. Would just anodizing the petals offer the somewhat satin, unblingy finish and not seem at all polished, without the ready for battle, warship look of the RSR here?

Maybe in real installed pics, it might make a difference. Can anyone tell me what these cars have? I know Jack's usually wears polished in street trim, but here it appears they could be RSR or anodized. Can anyone confirm which?

And how about this cab? Those look suspiciously like RSR. Yes?

Annodising has to be done on all of the wheel. It does give you the finish you show in the picture. Its a matt finish.

Really? You mean the pic of the wheel on the cloth, right? Hmmm, I thought my rims were anodized, and they have no where near as matte a finish. Maybe its worn smooth after 20 years, or more likely it was polished and has grown dull. Well, if that's the case, the decision's made. Oh, Jeff...

Yes, I do realize the anodizing has to be done to the entire wheel, and the black then painted or powder coated over top.

This is an impossible question really. You ask different people you'll get differing answers. You have to just do what you think will look good to you.
My opinion, I think your car looks extrremely nice just the way it is.
The one with teh Carrera script also looks very nice.
But there is something I really like about the way yours is sitting in that pic.

Thanks for the comment. The stance seems to be just about right, there.

I realize that I will get a range of opinions from people, but someone may bring something up that I didn't think of or anticipate. I just mean to gather opinions and information and make the best decision for my tastes. Its a bit tough to make the perfect choice when you aren't standing there with the wheels mounted on the car, and that will only happen after they are bought and paid for.

For me, I don't really dig the body colour wheels. I never really have, even when they were all the thing back in the 80s. Visions of white monochrome Mercedes and Miami Vice dance in my head...

If my car was a lighter colour, I would be all over the black, but as it isn't, I suppose the anodized or polished it the right thing. For me. Thanks for your input.

Polished wheels always look good - I had my reservations about polished on my carrera - It has blacked out trim, it's silver/grey/blue (diamond blue) - many diamond blue cars have the color coded wheels (which I am not a fan of) - but the car really pops with the wheels. They really give it a much more updated look in my opinion - and I have a lighter car that would lend itself to the black fuchs look

I too had the 15" 7 and 8" black fuchs V

I agree. Polished looks better than you think it might.

Here's mine with 7 and 9's:

I have a set of 930 polished Fuchs in the basement, but alas, no tires. Maybe I should just jack one side up and mount the wheels w/o tires and see what she looks like.
