starting car after 2 months issue

I seem to be having an issue with starting my SC..I have always started my SC monthly, but this time i waited for 2 months.Of course it will smoke. but I adjusted the CIS A/F to the right or Lean, now the car will not start. will a lean condition cause the engine to turn over and seem to start? but not start? when I push in the CIS fuel elbow it starts very fast and races to a very high rev, so fuel is getting to the CIS. I can re-adjust the CIS A/F mixture, but it seems that I might have lost my starting point. any ideas to getting the CIS to a normal position as a starting point..thanks I would be very grateful for any help.
thank again

first, if you are talking about the 3mm allen adjustment, to the right or CW is richer and CCW is leaner. the big screw in the back side is for idle.
second, the CIS fuel elbow? i assume your are removing the air filter and pushing up on the arm in the air flow meter. when you do that, you are making it run rich.
if you have been turning something, you need to make sure you have not been compensating for another problem such as air leaks, bad gas, WUR issues, ignition just to mention a few.
a year may be helpfull

but since you have already messed up the mixture you can get it close and at least get it running again.
get the car warm, turn the allen CCW until you have a noticeable drop in the engine, turn it CW until the RPM's pick back up, note angle of allen, blip the throttle a few times, if the RPM's come back down and stay, try a little more CW, note angle and blip the throttle. repeat above until you notice a dip in RPM's when the RPM's come back down. turn CCW and back CW to last known point before dip in RPM's, that will get you very close.

if you are still having trouble, stop turning CW when you have reached the highest RPM after going CCW. drive the car and see how it does. you may find that being on the rich side will give hunting when cold, if you do not like this, then turn allen CCW and back CW just a little less than where it just was, IE a little leaner.
i can get mine consistantly at 3% doing it this way, and i do have an LM2 to check my work.
when it is cold is when it really lets me know if it is too rich. about 2 miles down the road, the RPM's dip pretty low when i come to a stop if it is too rich, but just the once, after that it runs and idles fine.

understood

I have been reading on the CIS issues for years...just cant seem to get it down, even using dwell meters..just this particular time..my engine is having a rough time starting up..Im sure its something with my adjustment of the CIS mixture..I will try to back track in small increments..
thanks for the advice.
