Hey Fellas
![]() Bentley Guide states on page 401-6 to remove sealing compound from Upper Front Strut Mount Bolts/Plates. ![]() Do we need to place "Sealing Compound" on those bolts/plates once it is torqued to 35lb? If so, where can I get some?

You really don't need it in our climate. Have fun removing it!

Actually, it was removed already, I need to place M10 Lock Washers because they were missing and the bolts keep coming loose. I was worried I need to replace the sealant as well.
I agree, if the sealant is for more wet climates I won' worry about it. Just wanted to make certain it is not needed. Thanks again Dave, looking forward to seeing all you fellas for the Big Bear Fun Run

some think it keeps out water
some think it helps prevent movement if the latter, then put it on before the plate goes on... now who has carefully analyzed the factory videos to answer this question?? |

If you must use it, use something easier to remove than the factory "tar" crap. I'd suggest something simple like silicone RTV. It'll keep moisture out, but easy to remove with a light 3M abrasive pad.

agree re the hard to remove issue, BUT...
if you ever get the car painted and it has ever had silicone on it, your painter is liable to hunt you down and kill you |
