Correct MFI Fuel Pump?

I had a rebuilt fuel pump installed on my 1972 911T with MFI, the rebuilt pump came in a box labled Fuel Injection Corporation. The part numbers on the box are 740005 and 629-008-6001. The shop installing the pump stated all three hose connections on the new pumpt were the same size, which is inconsistent with the Bosch pump where one connection is larger and two are smaller but the same size. On the new pump all three hose connections matched the smaller hose connection on the Bosch pump.

Anyone have any additional information regarding this pump from FIC? Is it a correct pump? The shop could not find a pump and I purchased the pump from a Porsche dismantler, my receipt shows the correct Porsche part number, but something is strange here. I'll be calling FIC today to get more specs. I'll post another pic this evening when I get the car up and can shoot a pic of the bottom of the pump.

I have the Bosch fuel pump that was pulled and it is a correct pump for MFI ending in 001. The Bosch pump was only 5 years old, but my car did sit idle for almost year. It's unfortunate because the Bosch pump still looks brand new. I'm now looking to find someone to rebuilt my Bosch fuel pump.

I also installed a rebuilt pump from them on my '71 - it has worked very well for over a year; unfortunately I don't have the docs so I can't check the numbers.

For rebuilding the old pump, there's a great thread by Jeff Higgins here:
MFI Open Heart Surgery II - The Fuel Pump

Those old pumps and parts are precious!

More info...
I called Fuel Injection Corp (FIC) and spoke with Bob White, chief fuel pump rebuilder. Their pump 740005 was used in at least two other German vehicles, the Volkswagen Type2 1974 and the 1970-1974 914. I traced the Type 2 fuel pump to the original Bosch number and got 0580463005, then discovered this pump was used in the 914. Bob confirmed this pump uses the same plate and bearings as the Bosch 0580970001.

I'm pretty pi**ed the Porsche dismantler/dealer sold me this pump, so I'll be making at least one more call this afternoon on why they sold me the wrong pump.

Can the Bosch 0580463005 pump really be used on a 2.4 MFI setup? So far it's running fine just don't know the long term impact, plus the $$$ I spent I expected the right pump.

If I can find the number for my pump I'll post it, but it sounds like FIC can direct you quite well. As I said, I've been problem-free with one of their (correct) rebuilds.

The saga has ended and the pump won't work, did a little Pelican searching and here's what I found:

Rebuilt pump I should have received Bosch 0580 970001 based on Porsche part 901-608-105-00
Regulated pressure = 14.2 PSI, 0.8±0.2 Bar
Operating pressure = 1 bar
Flow rate = 125 liters/hour
Porsche P/N = 901.608.105.00
Bosch P/N = 058097 0001
Current draw = 3.5A @ 12V
RPM = 2800

Pump I received Bosch 0580463005, Porsche part 311-906-091-D - a 914 pump
Max Current draw: 2.7 A
Speed: 2200 rpm
Operating Pressure: 2.4 atm (34psi)

The 914 pump will result in a too rich setup for my car.

The 914 pump won't make it run rich. It has pressure but not enough flow, will never meet the MFI flow rate at high RPM's.

Will be interested in hearing how things work when you get the correct FIC pump. More data points for the MFI cult would be good.

I've just emailed FIC for info on new and rebuilt. I appreciate the info here. I'll let you know what I find out.
