cis replacement help

The cis on my 82 gave me fits after sitting for five years without being started. Removed the unit and installed a set of weber carbs. Well I just happened to pick up a used Supercharger of Knoxville unit which I will install next winter. I would like to install the best CIS unit available in place of my 82 unit. What should I look for to compliment the supercharger? Also I would like to include an inner-cooler when I install the supercharger. Any suggestions on a CIS unit and inner-cooler?

You should ask on the turbo/supercharging forum.

You'll probably need to get an intercooler fabbed for you, as it's not likely any of the ones designed for plumbing in the stock turbo location would be useful for you.

The CIS is a tricky question. With stock SC compression, a 930 WUR would probably be starting boost enrichment around the time your rings shatter from detonation, and even the modified adjustable ones can't be adjusted into that range (for 930's, delaying & evening out boost enrichment is the problem).

There's a digital WUR (I want to say from Turbo Kraft) that might tunable enough be useful for your application, but I don't know much about it. You might want to look into the J&S knock sensing ignition controller as well.

If money is no object, twin-plug the heads, use EFI, lower the compression and crank the boost up. Oh, and then you'll likely want to uprate the suspension, brakes, wheels/tires transmission and clutch as well.

The standard advice is to start with a 930 because it ends up costing a lot less unless you're going to end up somewhere very radical - in which case a 3.2 or 964 is probably a better place to start.

Can't remember (the mind is the second thing to go...), because I may have already given it away, but I think I might have the CIS removed from my '83 SC out in the barn, which you're welcome to if it's still there.

Did you do a search on this?

I remember recently seeing a thread on WURs and turbo engines that may be helpful to you. It mentioned someone named (Brian?) Leask who has a WUR for turbos. There are also some new programmable ones out now. Unwired Tools has one.

Also check the thread on fuel dizzy refurb. And mystery train's hread on AAR.

I'm mentioning all this in case you can't find a whole new system , or you decide to fix your existing.
