Strut tower bar
Does adding a strut tower bar increase understeer (911SC) ? I've heard people say it does while others say that it would only improve body stiffness.
Plus, anyone have advice on cleaning up the brown stuff that accumulates by the fuel tank? My first thought was to scrub it off with water/soap and spray paint it over. ![]() |

I was told to NOT put a strut tower brace on my 911 if it was a daily driver, as it stiffens the ride too much

I installed a triangulated strut brace in my car after years without one and honestly can't tell the difference on the street or track. It looks cool, though.

I installed a Weltmeister, steering seems tighter and more precise. Did not notice any over stiffness, I did notice a very slight increase in road noise though. Overall a 5+, 1 banana job.
Hola eric

Basically, it just helps prefent the shock towers from bending in and out thus changing camber. In addition, it stiffens the chassis but in my opinion not enough to cause you any problems if you use it as a daily driver. Personally, I noticed a positive difference when I install a bar on my 1973

Strut tower braces reduce understeer by helping maintain static camber settings. This keeps the tire contact patch from folding under in hard cornering.
No negative effects on ride quality at all. ![]()
