915 Removing Gearsets

Hi Guys

I've just removed the 41mm input shaft retaining nut, but the gearsets don't seem to want to come off.. It there a trick?

I followed JWW's advice a with the pinion shaft gearsets and used gravity and a concrete floor and they came off perfectly.

Cheers

I'm guessing you're using this a guide... http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/marcesq3/TrannyRebuild.htm

Quote from the site.

"JW on Input Shaft Disassembly:

"The best way to disassemble the shafts is to use inertia. Grab it with both hands and knock it on a steel plate repeatedly. The mainshaft takes a bit more effort than the pinion shaft. Put the plate on the ground so it's solid. Don't worry about damaging anything but the plate. The shafts are hardened, the plate is soft. The stack of gears comes right off. No press needed."

Looks like that block has been used a few times."

In other words the same way you dis-assembled the pinion shaft.

Yep, that's the one

I just came back from the garage after replacing the conveyer belt rubber for a piece of steel plate as recommended by John - success! Time to clean and assess gears/dogs/synchros...

Cheers

After you clean your gears post some photos here... In order 1 to 5 please.
I'd like to see your dog teeth - (Synchro Hubs)

This is mine after I disassembled the pinion shaft.
