Help me choose 915 ratios
Hi guys
I'm rebuilding my transmission and have the following ratios - a choice of 3rd and 4th gears... 1st (AZ) 11:35 2nd (HX) 18:33 3rd (NT) 23:29 or (PR) 25:27 4th (QQ) 26:26 or (SN) 28:23 5th (SM) 22:28 I've had it explained that you "flip" some gears to create others? How does that work? Box is a 915/62 (ROW) '81 SC - 8:31 R&P and sits in front of my 200hp RS spec 2.7; the majority of my driving is country back roads and the occasional track day, so I want a fun 1-4 with a cruising 5th Cheers

I'd use the stock 915/62 gearing, I started to put in you alternate gearing but it was getting too ugly too fast to proceed.
![]() If you want a shorter box 915/63 ![]() and if you want a pure race box 915/71 ![]()

Thanks Bill
I guess I'll stick with stock after all...

My last SC was geared like the last chart [race]. That is a lot of fun on the street.

gear info
Is the spreadsheet that Bill is using available somewhere? This would be great to be able to experiment with.
Thanks Steve |
