Anyone have any experience w/ the long and short versions of the Rennshift gated shifter?

I love my standard Rennshift , but I would love to hear if anyone has tried the long handle. The standard is just slightly too far forward for my comfort, but I dont want the throws to get too long either. Anyone, anyone???

I bought the long one. There were only 2 choices, short and long. I have short arms so the short might have been the wrong choice for me. As it is, I am happy w/ the long one.

But I still would like to know if anyone has any direct experience between the long and short.

When I bought our 901 Rennshift shifter a few years ago, it only came with the short shift handle. In order to center the handle for the reverse lockout, the forward throws were a little too far forward for my wife who co-drives the car with me. I installed the longer handle, which is angled a little more to the rear, and like the shift throws much better now.

A bit off topic but relevant.. When I installed a Factory short shifter in my 1973, I still had the same problem I had with the standard factory shifter.

My drivers seat is as far back as possible which meant that I had to lean forward to shift gears.

I cut approximately 3 inches off the standard shifter lever that I had removed and TIG welded it to the Factory short shift handle. I then heated up the lever portion of the shifter and bent it back about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Once that was done, it felt perfect and I didn't have to lean forward. I then ground down the weld, applied a little body filler, sanded and painted the handle black.
