Question Race takeoffs needed

Hey , guys I have an 1987 930 , that needs tires on its 17in. aftermarket rims, so I can roll it / drive it, but don't want to put expensive tires on it , until I know the ''projects'' future state of build. My question , where could I purchase some good ''race-slicks'' that have been used , but still have some life in them and are inexpensive? This came to mind , when I remembered that we got tires for next to nothing ,on our race -street-track bikes, from the vendors ,as long as were in the popular sizes of the day in the late 80's. In other words , some big tires that will hold air and could be driven on a little bit, for cheap, If there is such a thing? thansk; dave

That's real nice. Where did you get any of those ideas? Do you know this fellow? I see you've already edited your post. Was it worse?

Hoosiers get cycled through pretty quickly and loose their competitive usefulness on track, Thus, a lot of people have them to unload before the actual rubber is shot. if you place a want ad here or on craigslist you'll likely get some hits. these will look the **** but will work to your detriment on track and any slick will be bad on the street if they are not in their temp range and on clean, dry, maintained asphalt. What is your goal with this? if you just want it to roll you don't need slicks. If you want to track it you don't want used tyres. If you want good rubber for the street Hankook makes a great performance tyre that is relatively cheap.

Gary, was your car at the CVR father's day event in Norwalk last year?

"WTF? I've seen (and made) some not-so-nice posts, but these take the cake."

I'm putting this up again. I just deleted it, but when I think about it, these were outright personal attacks, not flames or a difference of opinion.

Try giving look 171 a PM. A few months ago he had some Goodyear F1s sitting in his basement. They were 245 fronts and 315 rears, IIRC. Don't know if those will fit your 17" rims. Had only a few hundred miles on them.

Hmmm, WTF? Why waste time posting if it's not helpful. There's other ways to vent. Were supposed to be a "community" of like minded, one thing in common gentlemen...who are here to HELP eachother. Or is that just me?
