Replacing shaft seals on G50?
Looking for tips replacing main shaft seal (999-113-326-41-M204) and shift shaft seal (999-113-404-40-M204) on G50 tranny on upcoming engine swap/ clutch project. Search indicates possible special tool required on main shaft seal removal under TO guide tube here:
G50 Input Shaft Seal Leak Have not been able to find much on the shift shaft seal replacement on the nose end of the tranny using the search function. Thanks!

Mark,
If the tranny is out of the car the shift seal it is a piece of cake. IIRC, I believe the shift seal has a flange on it, carefully pry it out with a screwdriver, then install the new one by tapping in with a suitably sized drift (piece of pipe, pvc, or similar). Andrew

I did them both last fall and it is pretty straight forward. You will need to use some sort of seal removal tool on the main. When prying, be sure to protect the case as it dings easily. Note the position of the old one before removing. Ken
