Question Bell Crank Throttle Bushing Replacement any Tips/Pre-Cautions?

Hey Fellas,

I am planning on replacing my Bell Crank Housing Throttle Bushings. Any tips or pre-cautions.

I assume I should start at the Tranny then at the Pedal. WIIT I am placing those 3 plasitc guides in the tunnel.

TIA.

A rennlist member recommended loosing at the pedal to obtain slack to work on the tranny portion.

I had to remove the whole stud from the transmission to get at mine when I did it a few months ago. The stud is threaded into the transmission and there is just enough clearance to unthread and remove it. I could not remove the bushings from the crank on the transmission without removing the whole thing. Also, I had a lot of trouble re-threading that stud back onto the transmission. It cross threaded the first time and I had to chase the threads in the tranny and on the stud with a tap/die to get it back on there. That aluminum on the tranny is very soft, so if you go this rout be careful.

I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terminology, so I hope this makes sense.

Yes, that make perfect sense. A fella on rennlist stated he had to remove it on his 87 with a G50 and he had to use a M8 bolt to keep the tranny fluid from leaking out.

I am looking at the diagram and it appears to be a cotter pin holding it in place.
