Two years of work, and today I got the rewards.

This has been a long project which started with some rust repair and ended in a full suspension refresh amongst a lot of other work. I would like to thank all here who have helped me with advice and support during the last year and a half, and encouraged me to push on... Today I took her out for the first test drive, and I am like a kid - what a feeling. The alignment is not 100% yet, but the best I could do at home in the garage. I have her booked in to do a proper alignment tomorrow.

And like all, I could not resist taking a picture or two after the run and before she was put back into the garage

I will collect together some pictures etc from the work I have done over the last 18 or so months and post them here. I will say this though, the Elephant Racing ASP's are all I expected and then some - I am so looking forward to hitting the racing tracks again...

Looks Great Paul. Good idea on having a pro align it. It was the hardest thing to do, waiting for them to finish, knowing that as soon as they were done I would be able to reap the rewards.

Thank you Duke. I will actually be doing the alignment with the shop, as the car is fitted with the ER ASP etc, they have no idea how to adjust the camber etc - So it will be quite fun to do it all with them in the morning. The main problem now is that is Sweden, if the car has not gone threw the state inspection, you get a ban from driving the car on the road until it has been tested. I can drive it to the workshop and to the test centre, but that's it. I have booked the time, but it is not until June 9th, so I can not legally drive the car for fun on the roads yet

Thank you elpresidente, but the car is much lower than ROW height. It has been set up for mainly track use with long distance support and help from Ed at Race Pro Engineering in NY. I will have the proper alignment done tomorrow, and I would not be surprised if the car comes down more. At the moment the height has been set to approximately 24" in the rear and 24.5" in the front.

Yes it was a lot of work, and that was just to get the car into a good platform to enable me to make it more track oriented - I will drive it like this during the summer, as I have missed it soooooooo much, but during the winter I will do the work I actually planed to start close to two years back (before I found the rust and related hidden problems)...

Good for you Paul -= I remembered when you first discovered the rust - a long journey - but she looks beautiful!

Thank you Jeremy. It has been an interesting journey, and at least now I know every inch of my car. Now the fun project work can start

And things like this do not make for a fun surprise when all you want to do is some track preparation work - how to turn a weekend project into a 2 year experience.

And I do not even want to post pictures of the rotten fuel lines and tank...

Congratulations, you did a great job. June 9th is coming quickly. It think we are going to find more and more SC's with rust in those spots. I have an extra set of inner wing walls incase I ever run into that problem again.

I really like how you painted the wheel wells, and floor. It really looks great. I know how much of a PITA it is to get that undercoating off.

Thank you Rich. Yes, rust is starting to be a problem for the old SC's, and here in Scandinavia with the weather we have it is even more predictable. That undercoating is a real pain to get off, and I removed it all - two months with bleeding hands and tears in my eyes - I can not say how many times I was close to giving up. Had it not been for some of my good friends giving me a drive in their 911's, I would have surely given in. Nothing like a nice reminder of how the drive in a nice old 911 feels to get you motivated again

Having had the pleasure of installing all clean and new parts on the car, I am still left wondering how they did all this in the factory - some of those jobs are a real pain in the ***...

I know the 9th of June is coming close, but our baby is due on the 10th, so the car is actually the last thing that will be on my mind at that point in time Just have to hope the baby does not decide to come a day early!!!

Pål,
Major congratulations. This has been an amazing project with some serious, unexpected setbacks. Great work and perseverance. Time to start enjoying that car!
