Wipers, Windshield Washer and Cigarette lighter quit

On my way home today my Wipers, Windshield Washer and Cigarette lighter quit working. I had my radar detector plugged in to the cigarette lighter, and I pushed the wiper stalk to clean the windshield and the wipers went across then quit an moved all the way to the passenger side. I check fuses and they al checked out on my ohm meter. Is it relay? If so, where is it?

On the ’82 911SC, check fuse 13 (25 A). That fuse supplies the cigarette lighter, wiper and fresh air blower. Also check that the wires are tight at the terminals. The hot side of Fuse 13 also supplies power to the power window relay, speedometer and mileage counter. The hot side has a bus on the back-side of the fuse block connecting Fuses 13, 14 (16 A) and 15 (8 A). It is possible for the contact between the bus and the hot terminal of Fuse 13 has some corrosion only visible from the back-side.

The wiring is different on the ’73. What are the symptoms?

Best,
Grady

Thanks Grady. Will test that right now.

Also found this. I know it's not form my car/relay, but with what is listed here, it may seem that the relay is the problem. I just took out the wiper relay. Is there a way to test it?

Okay. Checked Fuse 13, which on my fuse panel cover says its the indicator light front/right and I checked the Cigarette lighter fuse With my ohm meter they all checked out fine. The wires are tight at the terminals.

use a test light or vom and check for power at fuse 13. as per previous reply it powers wiper switch, lighter, blower. you are checking the wrong fuse if as you stated it was for the signal light. check for 12v with key on both sides of #13 fuse and let us know what you found.

The ’75 911 is similar but the relation between the fuses and devices are different. Fuse S13 serves only the wiper. Fuse S14 is not used. Fuse S15 serves the cigarette lighter and indicator light for the fresh air blower. The hot side of 13, 14 and 15 are the common bus as the ‘82 911SC.

Everyone should have the devices served listed on a decal inside the fuse box cover.

Best,
Grady

when you say "fuse panel" are you referring to the plastic cover for the fuse box?

ALSO IS THIS USA CAR?

i think someone may have installed a older fuse panel cover on your fuse box.

the schematic shows that fuse #13 is the circuit for the wiper lighter blower.

Yes the plastic cover that has the white sticker on one side and the molded number on the inside that coincide with each other and that coincides with the location of the fuse on the panel itself.

Car is a USA car.

You are correct. I just cross-referenced the part number on the panel cover and its for a 84-89 Carrera and not for an 82

do you have a owners manual? if so open it to page 62. disregard the plastic cover. count from the front of the car back the 13 fuse is the one you want.
