mechanical chain tensioners
has anyone tried to make one of these for the purpose ofsetting up the cams or where the heck do you find them. or is there a different way of holding tension on the chain

Tensioners
I am guessing that you need pre 3.6 style... we mfg. solid tensioners for both the early/late style engines (pre 3.6) for race engines and some use them for set up tools as well. take a look at our web site and you may find something else you need.
