Front Torsion Bar Installation Question
Guys,
I installed 22mm Sander's front torsion bars (upgrade from stock originals) this evening and had a question on how the ride height works out. I had the shock fully installed (attached to the ball joint and mount), and the sway bar detached. From there I inserted the torsion bar and installed the end caps/adjusters in the center position, with the control arm in its lowest position (shock fully extended). Top of the adjuster bolt just lightly touching the stop point inside the cross-member. I'm assuming my ride height is going to be excessively high when I get the wheels back on (due to the higher spring rate). Wondering how I could have accurately installed the torsion bar to avoid having to remove the end cap later to re-center and adjust. Anyone know of any sort of semi-accurate way to get it right the first go while the car is still up on jack stands, wheels off? Thanks, Gordo

The manual for a '69-'73 says to put the adjuster cap with the lever as far up as it will go. But as you surmised, this will result in too high a ride height. I just put 22 mm Sander bars on my '69 with raised spindles. With the lever as far down as possible to start, it ended up pretty close to the center when loaded.

No Standard Proceedure
Thanks C4,
Will see what happens when I put it back on all 4's with my mid point set up. Either way, I think I'm going to end up re-adjusting to get as close to center prior to bringing it in for a corner balance. Gordo
