Goodbye Dirty Penny...

The Dirty Penny has been sold and is off to a good home. Fortunately I will still see her and still get to drive her on occasion as I know the new owner and I am supporting the car for DE's and such. I couldn't be without an SC, so say hello to the Shiny Penny, which I discovered only 5 miles away from home! She is a 1979 911SC Coupe in Casablanca Beige Metallic with Brown partial leather. Cold a/c, power windows, great service records and no accidents. Originally sold from Brumos and a Florida car. Another great SC. I am probably not going to go as extreme with this one, so the theme will be more "gentleman's GT"...Will post pictures as the work progresses. Looking forward to running her at the May 16th-17th PCA DE at Sebring.

Great looking car.

Can you provide the paint code for it? The color looks to be like my cars "paint to sample" in 1984.

I found it.....paint code is: 463.

Thanks,

SC Hunter

Well Brodie...you have some competition! I first saw this car about six months ago at Klub Sport. Owner was asking a huge amount and was not very motivated, apparently something changed and we spoke last week. The car was in North Palm Beach, east of US1. Super nice guy that spared no expense in maintaining the car over the 15+ years he owned it.

Are you going to Sebring?

I heard about this car yesterday from Peter! I think I saw it on Craigs list a few time over the last month or two. Now that Keith has got his new toy there will be less competition for us Brodie!

I am going to try and make Sebring, but I broke a drive shaft in my Beetle yesterday so that may suck up my finances I had set aside for DEs Unless I can fix it and sell it!

Hey Brodie, you still have the orange targa?

Best regards,

Michael

And chrome window trim no less. I believe 79 was the last year it was an option.

Chrome Trim

Actually, the black trim is the option. My '78 SC was also silver trim, while my '79 SC Targa had the black. The window sticker for the '79 indicated it as an option.

Every time it rains, it rains...

Pretty car, nice stance. Sounds like a winner. Good luck with it, and with helping your previous car's new owner on the track.

A/c

It would appear to be an update by Griffiths. I installed a similar Griffiths system in my '79 Targa and it was a huge improvement. This one does not use the third condensor in the driver's rear wheel well, but it blows mighty cold. In fact, it is the coldest a/c I have ever experienced in an older 911. All the hoses were replaced, the condensors, and compressor. It still uses R12 which probably also helps.

One cool feature that this car has a large oil cooler in the fender. Appears to be factory, though it was installed at a later date based on the records. Very cool upgrade.

Nice car, I had posted that on here last week when I first saw it on Craigslist thinking someone here would see it and pick it up, beautiful color but if you see my avatar I'm partial to that color, good luck with it and enjoy.

I'm partial to the color myself, but mine has been repainted and I keep imagining that it's just a little bit off from stock...
