I thought I'd share some interesting photos of the rear banana arms. The guy that purchased the brakes didn't want them as they are not real RSR items, but it's intriguing to see the lengths to which the person that set this suspension up went to in order for the brakes to fit (not too many people could weld aluminum like this 25 years ago compaired to today). I think these aluminum arms were original to this 911S? The First photo is of the real RSR stuff, the other two are what I now have to find a new home for.

Sign me up for that slide valve! Sexy...

Wow, this is some really cool stuff.
Neat details on those trailing arms... giving me some ideas Is this a 2.8 or 3.0? I don't think there is a better sounding racing engine ever made than the slide valve RSR motor, even better than the flat-12. |
Decided not to put first generation Turbo suspension and brakes on and went with '74 Euro Carrera stuff. Here are some photos of it installed on the rear. Not quite the same as before (but we did keep the adjustable spring plates and swaybar), no?
The motor will be coming out as the distributor/ignition and slide valve injection systems are sold. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241810489.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241810603.jpg |
I am tearing the engine down now. The block ends up being a first generation no numbers factory 3.0 Turbo replacement case. Interesting as it takes the 70.4mm 2.7L crank, but has 86mm head stud spacing. I am told that the 3.0 RSR (83mm head stud spacing) heads have enlarged head stud holes from the factory that allow them to fit. Same situation is seen in the 2.8mm RSR head (which has 80mm head stud spacing), which can be used on the 3.0RSR due to the same factory oversized holes.
