RSR sytle car: Part it out or sell as a roller?

I purchased a very strange '76 911 for the slide valve motor and transmission it housed to allow me a unique opportunity to finish my white 3.0 RS/IROC project with some cool stuff. Ends up this '76 chassis also contains many other RSR items like a complete 2.8 RSR braking system w/ the correct calipers, 32mm rotors, drilled hats, dual master cylinders and pedal cluster, ect. along with real 9&11x15 Fuchs... there's more exotic stuff too, the list just goes on and on. I have posted this '76 for sale in the Cars for Sale section, but there is no feedback allowed in that form. I guess I am thinking of just parting it all out and keep the drive train. I know enough to be dangerous when it comes to identifing some of it's parts and definately not up on what some of these rare parts trade for in today's market. Here are some photos, if I can get some input back on what I've got, what it may be worth, and maybe who I should contact that could use some it. Thanks, John

Do you have pictures of the entire car? it looks like the parts are pretty rare, maybe it's worth it to keep it whole?

Take it apart and put it on ebay piece by piece. That will maximize your profit. Unless the chassis is special and has some history to it, the single bits will be worth more to the enthusiast that is building something specific, needing original parts.

Just my two cents.

Sadly, Aigel is correct. what does the whole tub look like?

Those rear trailing arm mods are really interesting! Moved the sway bar pickup and reinforced the shock mount. Are they turbo trailing arms?

best regards,

Michael

The thing had boxed rockers and horizontal fins in the rear brake ducts, but I quickly pulled that crap off. The chassis is a 911S: 91162006xx. I called Porsche to get the original engine number and it was 646xxx. Guess the car's not going to be worth much as it's not matching numbers.

How much do you want? I'd love a car like this for track days (with a 3.6)

John,

That is an interesting piece you have there.. neat parts for sure. A/C with slidevavle??

Sway bars are SwayAway/Weltmeister

Brakes look like 917 style that Zuffenhaus up in Charlotte are making/selling..
Dual master cyl??.. think factory stuff would be ATE rather than British..

Weld-up on rear control arm is very unusual

- Should you decide to part, I'd be interested in the adjustable spring plates and possibly the seats!

Paul

I would keep bits as a back up set for the white car sell the car/ racing parts separate if at all. If you are going to sell, in addition to your planned advertising, have you though about calling Gunnar. He may have a lead. Did you see that red RSR Gunnar rebuilt for a customer? People from all over the world send him cars to work on. He may know of someone asking for some of those parts. If any thing you may see him in the paddock one day and can ask then. Otherwise all I may add is, I would also contact AT&T representative, Mark to get some google keyword advertising.

Regards,

Thanks for the input so far, guys! Bernard, I called Kevin and left a message. Good suggestion on your part. If anybody could use these parts/car, Kevin would know who they would be. Paul, the brakes have been authenticated already as real 2.8 RSR by one of the best West coast Porsche race/resto shop owners. Jeremy, I would like to sell the car as a roller for $37,500.00. My mechanic has a '90 3.6 w/ all the fixin's and an aluminum 915 w/ cooler and LSD. If you are serious, I could ask him what a turn key price would be. I also have a buddy who is selling his red '75 Carrera w/ a 3.6 for under $30K. Here is a photo of it ...

That black car looks great... Would be a shame to part it Why not stick your friends 3.6+tranny in it and sell it as a running car?

Yeah, Michael I was thinking that would be yet another option: sell the wheels/tires/ and complete brake system for $30K and put some more 'ordinary' brakes and wheels on it, install a Ruf SCR 3.2 w/ MFI that I have been saving into it and just drive it. I might even leave the A/C in it too.

I think you should keep the car together , but if you part out I'd like the Behr underdash A/C components. PM me if you part out.

I was just thinking that if you and your pal went in together on the car someone might buy it simply to get the RSR parts or to have a great car. This saves you the hassle of parting it out. In the end you will have a shell that is in a style few like these days and it will be hard to get rid of. Just my opinion

If I mail my 1st born to you will you send that Ruf SCR engine my way? He is a good hard worker

Best regards,

Michael

I sold the brake system off the car and am replacing them and the suspension w/ first generation Turbo stuff that I happened to already have. I decide to pull the motor and transmission, sell off the slide valve injection and install a Supertec custom MFI (already have), and put it into my white 3.0 RS/IROC clone. The used to be black bastard RSR will now be just a bastard w/ either a 3.2 Ruf motor or a 3.0 Carrera power and RSR front and rear bumpers.
