Refinishing Fuchs

I'm going a quick polish and paint of my Fuchs. They are in very good shape now, just need a little clean up.

My question is once the centers are painted, do I clear coat the entire wheel including the polished lips or just the centers?

Thanks.

Jeff

I just had the centers done. I opted to leave the lips unfinished because I was scared it would dull the shine. Mothers polish and powerball every few months and they still look good as new. I also wax the centers to keep the shine up. Try to post some before and after pics to see how they turn out.
Good luck.

fuch wheels should not have a gloss clear on then if your looking for an OE appearance it has a mat sheen . over the 30 plus years in the body biz . i have fond a perfect match with looks (peal) and the OE gloss . its called SEM Rust-shield color # 3809 mix it 8 parts black to one part of the rust-shield hardener . you can spray it over bare metals and aluminum . it also has the same mil thichnes as the OE finish . as for clearing the buffed aluminum lip you will need a clear made just for that . your every day clears will peal off in no time ! Eastwood.com sells a clear for clearing aluminum . i use it alot ! it works good ! just use it on dry days .as for clearing the lip or not ? you will have to decide that . it looks more OE if you clear them . when you put clear over buffed aluminum it does take some of the shine away . some people like it to look like chrome . its all up to you !

Those wheels look great. Nothing like a clean set of Fuchs.

Thanks for the tips! I was going to use everyday clear. I did not know that there was special clear for aluminum. I'll source some Eastwood and see how they turn out. I do want more of an OE look so I'll go with a satin or mat black center.
