Hey Thor, thanks! Our cars really do look alike. I'd love to get together some time. If you need any help, I'd be happy to head down that way to play.

I put a 2 in 1 out M&K on mine. It sounds really nice, but I'm still on the fence wether it is too loud or not. I would guess that it is close to the volume of a beefy motorcycle. Not quite obnoxious Harley loud, but pretty close to it.

John, inspirational work here! You make it all sound so simple. Love your sense of humor during the ups and downs of the project. Great color as well. Enjoy my friend!!

Great looking car and project. Can I ask you what you think you have invested in this?

It as been a while since I updated this thread. Did I really say that I was "done"? Well, after driving around with the CIS for a while, my head kept screaming MORE, MORE, MORE!

So, I picked up a set of PMO 46s.

Runs like a scalded cat now! Looks and sounds a lot nicer to boot!

Ok, now I'm done...for this week anyway...

The good news is that the car is "done" and I'm putting the miles on it now! I can't believe that I have been working on this car for 2 years! Anyway, I am loving driving it around.

Only thing is that I'm itching for a bit more now. A nice set of 46mm PMOs should be arriving soon...
Great thread and great inspiration. I also have a 79 SC, all original and only 50k miles on it including paint. I just wonder did you repaint your car or just buff it out? It sure looks like new!

Those carbs look so pretty on there it's almost a shame to cover them with filters...

Good work on your project. Despite the two years of refurb, I imagine you're pretty happy about it now.

I didn't do anything to the paint. It seems to have gotten a fairly crappy respray maybe 7+ years ago. I just ordered up some Dr. ColorChip to see if it will help with some of the nicks and chips.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the car. Every chance to get in it and drive, I take.

We need milk?...ok, I'll go get some from the next town over...bye!

And frankly, the years of working on it were a ton of fun. I'm actually bummed out that I don't have a project to work on now!

Thanks for the welcomes!

I thought about leaving the car as-is for a little while so that we could get acquainted before I start tearing into her, but I had a few issues after a couple hours of driving.

First , the PO installed an "expensive" stereo unit. This one in particular seemed to want to entertain me even when I explicitly told it to shut the hell up. It has a big blue display on it that kept cycling through a little movie with people dancing, woofers throbbing and other various crap. >
I don't want to state the obvious here but you could most likely have simply switched off the entertainment animation. Not only has mine learned not to show me any of that, i actually has a nice blank / black screen even when in operation unless i hit a button.
